When creating our storyboards we used this simple layout so we could add images and text, we wrote a short description below and quickly drew a cartoon to show the setting and what happens in each scene.

This is the prezi that we created in class for our preliminary film Harmony. I had never used prezi before but it was a useful way to lay out and show the planning leading up to the final clip. I started to type up my planning which included; the title, genre convections, characters, scenes one-six description, the script, music, props and settings and a production diary for the two week task.

Overall, prezi was useful for this planning as it was easy to use and is an interesting way to view the planning instead of just writing it up on a word document.

practice editing

Above is my practice edit that I made using Adobe Premier Pro. I had never made anything like this before so I was unaware on how to use it luckily I had used something very similar before so I could easily work out how to use it by clicking around. our first task was to choose an audio clip and then add videos to it editing them and sinking them to make it look like a music video almost.

film language applied to 3 openings

Mise en scene-
costume- The costumes in this scene are very classy and prep this could represent that they are wealthy people because they are smartly dressed, clean and well-groomed wearing suits and two piece work outfits.
lighting- The lighting in this scene is high-key because it is a relatively happy and high spirit film. It is a bright film because it is sunny and pleasant American weather.
actors- There are three actors shown in this film opening. There is the main character who is an American teenage girl who has a wealthy upbringing and you can tell this from her clothing and way she presents herself. the second character shown is an older male who also presents himself well. He is shown to be a working man who has little time for his family, this is shown by the way he talks to his daughter in a dreary voice without looking up from his work. the final character is the best friend she is show to be very eccentric with her style and very bubbly.
make-up- pleasant, daily, teenage make up. Nothing eccentric but enough to make look presentable and smart.
props- A healthy smoothie is shown which gives across that they lead good lifestyles.
setting- This scene is set in a wealthy upper class part of America

Camera-
frame- medium shot, close up, long shot
movement- the camera follows her when she is driving in the car.

Editing-
pace- This scene has quite a fast pace because it is happy and girly. This represents a bubbly teenage girl well.

Sound-
Music- typical girly teenage music
Contrapuntal/parallel- The music is parallel to the scene because it sounds like typical American teenager music.
voice-over- there is a voice over in this scene which is a narration by the main character.
emotion- happy/ no cares/ oblivious/ nieve

Mise en scene-
costume- At the beginning of the scene the main character is only wearing trousers to show off his back and arm muscles to the camera when he is doing push ups. This makes him look tough and like a frightening criminal for being in a cell. It also shows off the large tattoo he has on his back which is of a Christian cross and two weighing scales coming off it.When he is told he can leave the prison he puts on his prison shirt. When he puts this on he blends in with all of the other prisoners making them all look the same and like a unity. When the shot cuts to him outside the prison he has different clothes on making it appear like this is a new chapter of his life and making people wonder what he will do or where he will go next.
lighting-
Actors- The main character is a criminal, we know this because he is kept locked in a prison cell. Prison guards walk him out of his cell
Make-up- They use make up to make him look tough. He is not pristine clean because he is kept in a prison cell. However, we know he looks after himself and takes pride in his appearance because he cares for his hair and exercises.
Props- He is not a stereotypical criminal thug shown by the items in his room.because of Pictures and symbolic items of powerful leaders in the man characters cell which show delusions of power.  .
Setting- This film scene is set in a prison. First in the cell then it cuts to outside of the prison.

Camera-
movement-The scenes starts off by tilting down and panning left/right to view pictures of powerful leaders.

Editing-
There is only one cut in this scene where it cuts from inside the prison to outside. There is a graphic match
The sound  and the flashing of the thunder is edited in after the filming.
sfx- The clouds at the end of the scene are given the effect of a thunderstorm
pace- The shots are quite slow to add to the effect of
order of narrative-

Sound-
music-The sound is parallel to what is seen in the video because it is dramatic but could also be seen as a contrapuntal due to the music being slightly over exaggerated.

Sound-

Mise en scene-
clothing-The costumes in this scene are suitable for their ages.
actors- There are two main characters shown who are madly in love with each other.
props- Their childhood scrapbook is very symbolic of their love. They use a glass jar to hold all their spare pennies, to help save for Niagara Falls but they keep having to break into it whenever something goes wrong. They do match on action shots to show the couple putting money into the jar whenever they walk past it over a long period of time.
setting-This scene is set in a family home environment.
lighting- The colours and brightness represent the mood of parts of the scene. When there are happy parts in the scene, bright colours are used. whereas where there are sad parts in the scene the colours are quite dark, giving it a sombre effect.

Editing-
pace- The pace of the scene depends of the mood of the character. It quickens when they are happy and slows down when they are sad.

music- The soundtrack is a peaceful classical tune that is very light and delicate.

Institution task

My logo for my film company is presented above, it contains the words 'AURORA STUDIOS' which is the name of my company I chose to use this name because it has a relaxing feel to it and it also sounds powerful. before creating my logo I looked at others, these were very influential towards my design I included aspects from things like 'warner bros' like the big bold centred text that wraps around the main image. I then also used aspects from the paramount logo which included having a background that is part of the main image for example they used the mountains and their scenic surroundings and I used the sun and the landscape surroundings. to create the image i used Photoshop because i thought i would step it up from paint and go for a more professional outcome. the background image i used was based around one very similar containing smaller aspects of the image. the sun itself however was completely hand drawn meaning that it was original i then blended the base of the sun with the reflection to give the illusion of it melting. this works well with the audience of the films that the studios would produce as they would usually be more emotional, friendly, devastating or fun films and the colour scheme works well with all of these.

Our film delusion

We got assigned the task of creating a film proposal, we would then present it to the class and vote on the one which we would be most likely to pay to produce. we got given a genre and we had two weeks worth of lessons to come up with everything from a plot, characters and cast to play them a BBFC certificate and marketing strategy. above is our proposal for our thriller film, as that was our topic. in my group there was Tom Richardson, Soraya Tormos we had never worked together before or even spoken but we managed to create a bond very quickly which helped let the ideas flow. we worked very well as a group and were able to work off other peoples strengths. we presented our slideshow to the class and received feedback on what they thought about it. we received mainly good feedback of 6-7's in negative aspects we didn't receive higher marks because the plot may have been confusing for the audience and people may not enjoy watching it. In the future we will give everyone allocated roles so that the work gets completed and not just spoken about as we discussed more that we noted down causing us to struggle when it came to looking back at our notes.
